GIG airport

From GIG airport you can take a uber (there’s free wi-fi in the terminal) or a taxi from one of the companies inside the airport: aerocoop and aerotaxi. Right before leaving the inner area there are taxi stands where you can book the ride.

Santos Dumont airport

From Santos Dumont Airport located at Praça Senador Salgado Filho, s/n° – Rio de Janeiro – RJ, you can take a uber or a taxi from the following companies: Transcoopass Rádio Táxi, Transcootour, Coopataxi, Ouro Táxi.

A regular cab ride from the airport to IMPA will cost up to R$ 150,00 – 180,00. These are yellow cabs and run on a meter.

At the airport other drivers will start to harass you as soon as you leave the inner area. Taxi cars are either yellow or white (or sometimes black) and will be lined up outside the terminal. Few drivers speak English, so you should have ready the name of your destination.

IMPA’s address is Estrada Dona Castorina 110, Rio de Janeiro, RJ. Most drivers will not know IMPA nor this address. If you don’t speak Portuguese you can print and show the driver the following info:

“Vou para o IMPA (Instituto de Matemática) no Horto, perto do ponto final da linha 409. O endereço é Estrada Dona Castorina 110. Para chegar lá: subir a Rua Pacheco Leão como se fosse para a Vista Chinesa.”
